Emails, Posters & Media
The campaign work that goes out alongside a website — emails, posters, flyers and promo video for community organisations, schools and small charities.
The Brief.
A website is rarely the whole job. A community group launching something needs the email that announces it, the poster that goes up in the shop window, the flyer for the school gate and the short video for social media — and all of it needs to look like the same organisation.
These are groups without a marketing department. Nobody is briefing an agency. Somebody is doing this in the evening after everything else, and what they need is for it to be handled properly and to arrive on time.
The Approach.
Start with where it will actually be seen. A poster is read from three metres away by someone walking past; an email is read on a phone, one-handed, in about four seconds. Those are different design problems, and pretending otherwise is how you end up with a poster nobody can read and an email everybody deletes.
- Emails built to survive Outlook, which still breaks layouts other tools take for granted
- One message per piece, so nobody has to work out what they are being asked to do
- Print and screen kept visually consistent, so a campaign reads as one thing
- Files handed over in a form the organisation can reuse without coming back to me
What this covers.
Four kinds of thing, all of which have to look like they came from the same place.
- Campaign emails. Hand-coded HTML that holds together in Outlook, Gmail and on a phone.
- Posters and flyers. Print-ready, legible at a distance, and cheap to run off locally.
- Social graphics. Sized properly for each platform rather than cropped and hoped for.
- Promo video. Short pieces to introduce an organisation or announce an opening.
